Country Beads (plus World Tour Beads, City Beads and the Regional Italian Beads)

A small series of beads  marketed under this name, all Limited Edition. The later ones have country-specific catalogue numbers.

Country Beads are not to be confused with three other series –  the World Tour Beads, the City Beads, and the Regional Italian Beads. Scroll down for more details of these. I will shortly be making separate pages for these, but meanwhile, you can find details about them here.

Here are the so-called Country Beads:

8. 2018 – Limited Edition Lilac Diamond. Exclusive to Italy, and released in early March 2018. Catalogue Ref. TGLBE-00159. Despite the name, it is darker than the Purple Diamond (the names would be better the other way around, I think).

9. 2018 – Limited Edition Lavender Diamond. Exclusive to Germany, and released on April 22nd 2018. It was only available at various stores hosting events in Germany, and as an event bead, doesn’t seem to have a catalogue number. It is a beautiful lavender blue colour.

10. 2018 – Limited Edition Amber Diamond. Exclusive to all the Americas (although the “story” which accompanied the launch seemed to tie it to the prairies of the USA). Released on October 19th 2018. Catalogue Ref. TGLBE-00167. Designed by Lise Aagaard. It is a beautiful golden yellow colour.

11. 2018 – Limited Edition Peach Diamond. Exclusive to China. Released November 2018.

World Tour Beads

Country Beads are not to be confused with the World Tour beads (released 2010-2012) which can be seen in this photo by Trollbeads below, and which were limited to their country (although sometimes available globally for a limited period):

The City Beads Collection

“Like a heartbeat, every city in the world has its own magical rhythm and life. Each with its own unique light, sounds, smells, views and flavours that speak to our senses. It may be the music and the food, or the things you did and people you met. Or it may be the special person you travelled with. But sometimes we find ourselves in a city we can never really leave – at least not in our hearts.

Like a soul mate, you know when you have found your soul city – because somehow it brings out your true self better than anywhere else…

Join our whirlwind tour of nine of the world’s most exciting cities and discover The City Beads Collection”. Source: Trollbeads HQ.

Country beads are also not to be confused with the City Beads collection which launched in May 2015. These were also only available in their individual countries (although sometimes available globally for a limited period). There were nine to start with: London Gentleman; Seoul Haechi; New York Freedom; Shanghai Dragon; Cape Town Trinity; Tokyo Mount Fuji; Amsterdam Town House; Hong Kong Voyager; Rome Colosseum. In November 2017, a new city bead – apparently the tenth in this series – was released: the Prague bead, only available in Prague, and an eleventh city bead – the Town Musicians of Bremen – was released on May 4th 2018, exclusively for German retailers.

Regional Italian Beads.

Launched as a series in October 2018 to celebrate The Giro d’Italia, an annual multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in Italy, similar to the more famous Tour de France. Each region visited by the race will get a bead – in fact this means that all twenty of Italy’s regions will have their own bead. The first four were launched in October.

“Monuments, natural beauties, masks and culinary traditions. It’s the beginning of a new journey …

A BEAD FOR EVERY REGION

Monuments, natural beauties, masks and culinary traditions. From these unmistakable and unforgettable elements, an all-Italian Trollbeads novelty is born!”

These four beads – “Stage 1 of the Giro d’Italia” – were released in October 2018 (see image above which is from Trollbeads Italy):

  1. Puglia – Catalogue Ref. TAGBE-40099

“The symbols of the region are the Orecchiette, the Pugliese pasta by definition; Farinella, the cheerful and easy-going mask of the Carnival of Putignano, and the Trullo, an ancient and iconic stone house”

  1. Piemonte – Catalogue Ref. TAGBE-40100

“The symbols of the region are the Agnolotti, specialties of Monferrato; Gianduja, the popular mask of Turin; and the Mole Antonelliana, a masterpiece of bold architectural construction”.

  1. Lazio – Catalogue Ref. TAGBE-40101

“The symbols of the region are the Bucatini, cornerstone of Lazio gastronomy; Rugantino, a typical character of the Roman theatre, and the Spanish Steps with its 135 steps of white travertine”.

  1. Sardegna – Catalogue Ref. TAGBE-40102

“The symbols of the region are the Malloreddus, specialties of the Sardinian cuisine;  the Mamuthones, masks created for ancestral fertility rites, and the Nuraghi, evidence of an ancient civilization”.
